Krista Hartman

CANADA | 2021 PARTICIPANT

Krista Hartman is an Ottawa-based songwriter originally from The North Country in Canada.

Hartman was raised in a small town called Peace River and inspired by her spirited musical family. Her father was one of 17 children and her mother was one of 11. At family gatherings, everyone sang and played instruments at the campfire, so it was completely natural for Krista to join
the family’s rich musical tradition.

Krista Hartman has released four heartfelt Canadiana records since 2005: Transcend (2020), Constellations
(2015), Nostalgia (2010), and Passport (2005).

As a world traveler, Hartman has experienced
a whirlwind of musical adventures—from touring live across Australia, New Zealand, The
Emirates, South East Asia, The Caribbean, and North America—to performing a bi-lingual version of The Canadian National Anthem for the Prime Minister in Toronto. Recording her duet, “Broken in Two” with Juno award-winning songwriter, Ron Sexsmith has been a career highlight. Her music journey has been a magical one.

Hartman’s works are dusty, rare eclectic gems. They promise the listener a cinematic and eclectic experience akin to
the works of Neil Young and Lucinda Williams.
